MISSION
The mission of the National Railroad Equipment Preservation Foundation is to
bring the modern age to the world of historic railroad equipment preservation, inspiring the next generation of preservationists, igniting interest and passion in people of all ages.

ABOUT
The National Railroad Equipment Preservation Foundation, Inc. (NREPF) was
established to forge connections between the modern public, the traditional trades, and historic railroading. The American railroad industry has always been closely linked with hard work, highly skilled tradespeople, and a can-do attitude. The NREPF brings all those things together through a focus on education, restoration, and preservation. We are a proud partner of C&O #614 and will support the operation of their steam locomotive and passenger equipment.
The NREPF is a gateway for the public to learn, interact, and contribute to the
restoration, preservation, and operation of historic rail equipment. Through the
Foundation’s educational opportunities, participants will be able to learn valuable skilled trades and apply these traditional crafts to the preservation of rail equipment. From carpentry and woodworking to welding and fabrication, to electrical and mechanical work, a wide range of traditional trades and skills are required to keep railroad equipment operating. These skills, and more, can be explored through participation in NREPF. The opportunity to be a part of the restoration, preservation, and operation process gives all participants the ability to contribute to the work in meaningful, hands-on ways and, just as importantly, to see the project outcomes that result from their efforts – providing participants with a uniquely satisfying educational experience.
